Day 44: March 28, 2011

Beautiful. Occasionally I post the same picture on both of my blogs, but rarely do I post a picture on this blog that I haven't fiddled with in some way, shape or form, but here is an exception. I just LOVE this picture, and the funny thing is that Ellie was being so obstinate at this moment. I just wanted a smile, and she just wouldn't give one away. I think this turned out better than any other ever could have. I love the light, her eyes and the small peek of tongue.

Day 39: March 23, 2011

Walk-up yogurt bar. Ellie was eating her "pink treat" (aka strawberry yogurt) for dessert tonight, and Jack couldn't resist. He crawled his way over, pulled up on the chair and opened his mouth like a baby bird. Ellie obliged him and fed him some bites. It was a really sweet moment.

Day 38: March 22, 2011

Big cheat. Okay, so I didn't take this picture today, but I did edit it today - does that count?? I didn't have any pictures I liked from today, so I posted something I do like. Go ahead, sue me.

Day 37: March 21, 2011

An ear-full. Literally. His ears were full of sticky fluid (the Doctor called it Glue Ear, aka Otitis Media with Effusion), and now they're not. Thanks to two small tubes.

Day 36: March 20, 2011

Nothing beats a New Mexico sunset. But, you have to admit that this is a pretty good view for a front porch. Now, just add two rocking chairs, warm weather, some grass, a sidewalk and two wonderfully happy, laughing children and what you would have is something close to perfect.

Day 35: March 19, 2011

Smile shining through.

I actually love seeing the smile behind the paci. It always brings a smile to my face, and I'm glad I could capture one of them. The only thing that's bothering me is this conversation I had with the nurse at the ENT's (Ear, Nose, Throat) office Thursday morning. She was asking us all this background information about Jack (he is getting ear tubes on Monday, so this was the pre-surgery meeting) - you know, all the stuff they should already know about a person they are about to operate on, but anyway... Well, this nurse asked me who Jack's pediatrician is, and I told her. Then she said, "Oh, I don't know her. Interesting." Then I said, "Well, Dr. Jarvie is the one who made the referral for the tubes." Then she said, "I LOVE Dr. Jarvie! He's the one who got my son off his paci. You know they really shouldn't have a paci past 6 months". The nerve! I truly dislike people who do that. Here I am, with my 13 month old son (who has a paci in his mouth), just trying to figure out what I need to do to make him feel better, and she's telling me what I'm doing wrong as a parent. Ugh.

So, I DO love the smile behind the paci, very much - it's just too bad I think about that stupid woman now also...oh well. To each his or her own, I guess.

Day 34: March 18, 2011

Peek-a-boo!! A sunny day + two kids + two parents = lots of fun.

Day 33: March 17, 2011

A girl on her own. This shot exhibits perfectly how independent Ellie is becoming. For a mother, particularly one who is independent herself, it is a beautiful (and yet sometimes sad) thing to watch. I want her to need me and I want her to learn and become confident all at the same time. She's growing so fast. She's so smart and so funny. I have been truly blessed to have this girl in my life.

In this picture I "antiqued" the color. Still exploring and playing. One of my friends uses a color edit similar to this in her pictures, which I usually LOVE, but she has a secret about keeping bright colors bright that I don't have yet. Just think about how much cuter this picture might be if those magenta pants and blue basket were vibrant. Well, I just have to keep learning and experimenting.

Day 32: March 16, 2011

A new way to say YAY!! Jack learned to "High Five" yesterday, and now it's one of his favorite things to do.

Also, I'm sure you will note, I've edited my picture into B/W. Let me know what you think. I'm getting a bit braver with playing with the colors a little bit, but I still need some trade secrets on how to keep reds and other colors bright while antiquing some of the other colors. I might need a more sophisticated editing software, so it might not be possible for me to get that level of beauty in my pictures right now. I'm learning though, and trying new things, which I think is the point of this project.

Day 31: March 15, 2011

The sweet smell of an organized garage with both cars safely parked inside. This is Dan's definition of being truly moved in. This shot may be FAR from perfect, even far from good, but Dan and I tested our marriage to get this garage to look like this, and I had to stand in the rain to get the shot, so in some ways it's more than perfect. It's a sign of survival.

Day 27: March 10, 2011

It's called working from home. I did it for the first time today (since we moved to the new house), and I love my new home office. I was as productive as I would have been if I would have actually gone into my work office, and that NEVER happens for me. It was a good day, and I got a lot accomplished.

Day 26: March 9, 2011

Apparently it snowed while we were away. Yeah. It snowed 8-10 inches in 1 night while we were away. This was an awesome (not in the good way) shock to come home to. The only redeeming aspect of this MARCH weather event is that it rained today, and most of the heinous, offensive snow melted away.

Day 25: March 8, 2011

Recycling Tide detergent scoops. Three girls, four and under, in one large tub. Who knew bath time could be so fun?

Day 24: March 7, 2011

At least the car got "washed", right?

Day 23: March 6, 2011

I love this lamp. I have no idea what to say about this picture, except, I love this lamp.

Day 22: March 5, 2011

Christmas box fort. Post toddler/preschooler.

Day 21: March 4, 2011

Hands and hearts filled with love will never be empty.

Day 20: March 3, 2011

A 1-year-old's view of the world. Again, another addition to my exploration in perspective.

Day 19: March 2, 2011

A view from the ground. Right now in this project I'm exploring what the world looks like from various perspectives. So far I've been drawn to getting lower to the ground to see how that changes what the world looks like. This is what our family room might look like if you were small and about an inch off the ground.

Day 18: March 1, 2011

A baby hand. I love baby/toddler hands. When they still have the dimples at the knuckles. Jack has particularly cool hands, like his dad. Today I was totally obsessed with taking pictures of Jack's hands. This is one of my favorites.
